TBTS Study Guides

Resources for high school students

Check out selections from our Teens Behind the Scenes study guides through the past three seasons. Each guide includes background about the production, essays on significant historical and cultural elements in the show, and activities designed to engage critical and creative thinking. The guides are written and curated by an excellent team of Dramaturgs and designed by a professional graphic designer. Interested in using these guides in your classroom or research? Reach out to us at education@nationaltheatre.org.

This season, we changed up the model by creating our first ever Prompt Book, a unified curriculum made available to all our participants. In it are articles breaking down significant trends in professional theatre, information about The National Theatre’s unique place in the American landscape, and exercises designed to engaged students’ critical thinking skills. Click the link below for a sample that includes our TBTS Dramaturgy Roundtable and a brief history of The National Theatre.
