Learn more about The National’s three free programs that provide our Washington area communities with access to the performaning arts:

Community Stage Connections
The Community Stage Connections program has provided communities with limited access to the arts with live arts experiences for over 30 years. We currently work with non-profit organizations that serve communities with limited resources and mobility. Working in collaboration with these venues, and a roster of participating performing artists, The National arranges easily transportable theatrical and musical performances free of charge for the residents and communities of these venues. With the help of a generous donor that has been supporting this program throughout its tenure, our artists are paid an honorarium for their work.

Saturday Morning Live! At The National
Saturday Morning Live! has delighted children for years with events to engage and inspire the young mind. Interactive performances, puppets, dance, and music encourage children to look outside their communities and discover a world of wonder.

Teens Behind the Scenes
Teens Behind the Scenes is a collaborative effort between The National, Young Playwrights’ Theater and Duke Ellington School of the Arts, that enhances the education of high school students by providing access to Broadway productions. A key component of this program is the opportunity for the students to talk with theatre professionals, who give insight into the industry.
