Seating is limited!! Tickets are Required, and are Distributed without
charge one Half-Hour Prior to Performance, on a First-Come First-Served
policy.
This weekly showcase in the Fall, Winter and Spring, features local
performers, and provides free quality live entertainment to the
Greater Washington Area community. Original plays, singers, musical
ensembles, dance, drama and comedy are on the bill.
Mon - January 23 - FEDERICO GARCIA LORCA: UNDYING WORDS
With original music and poetry, GUILLERMO
SILVEIRA celebrates the brilliant Spanish poet and playwright,
whose fiery words won him a host of admirers during an all too short
lifetime. The program includes a number of Lorca's short poems and
his Sonetos del Amor Obscuro, the “Dark Love Sonnets.

Mon - January 30 - WASHINGTON KOREAN DANCE COMPANY
Dance has been an integral part of Korean culture
from ancient times until today. The dancers present this beautiful
art form in slow dances marked by elegant, silky hand gestures,
and in earthy traditional folk dances performed with bold, lithe

Mon - February 6 - SKYLINE
This
a cappella group sings, and provides its own background of
unique, vocally-generated sound. Skyline creates original
music filled with passion, drive, and soul, and also performs scintillating
popular covers. Each singer brings his or her unique influences
to bear on the sound, producing music with a blend of rich vocal
textures and soaring leads, accented with thumping bass and vocal
percussion.
Mon - February 13 - THE MIKADO MEETS THE
PINAFORE
In
a merry musical "marriage of inconvenience" the royal
court of Japan confronts the crew and guests of the H.M.S. Pinafore.
This zany concoction of plots and musical numbers is presented by
THE WASHINGTON
SAVOYARDS, our city's premier Gilbert & Sullivan light
opera company. The show shimmers with riotous merriment and
good musicianship.
Mon - February 27 - AN EVENING OF MUSIC
FROM "THE PRESIDENT'S OWN"
Chamber
Ensembles from the UNITED STATES MARINE BAND play
classical selections with the precision and blue-ribbon exactitude
for which this group is famed. Established by an Act of Congress
in 1798, "The President's Own" is our nation's oldest
musical organization. It is the single Washington cultural
institution operating today which predates the opening of this theatre

Mon - March 6 - THE INCREDIBLE WORLD OF ALAIN NU
You
must alert your senses and concentrate on every detail of what you
are seeing, in order to comprehend the mind-penetrating, baffling
"demonstrations” which master mentalist ALAIN
NU performs. You will be describing them later to unbelieving
friends who have not had the thrilling pleasure of watching this
waaay-beyond-belief exhibition of mental impossibilities and "NuMagic."

Mon - April 3 - COYABA DANCE THEATRE
Combining
traditional and contemporary African dance and music, this company's
stunning work reflects the diverse ethnic groups and various humanitarian
themes of West African culture. The pieces are characterized by
Insistent energizing rhythms, and they are performed in colorful,
authentic costumes.
Mon - April 10 - POSITIVE VIBRATIONS STEEL ORCHESTRA
Young people from the CAFE program - THE CULTURAL ACADEMY
FOR EXCELLENCE - present an evening of exploding sounds
and rhythms on the steel drums. They perform traditional Caribbean
favorites and also take the instrument to new levels, including
classical music and opera! The program will include In the Mood,
The Stars and Stripes Forever, and Rossini's Silken Ladder
Overture.
