LEGENDS! -
a comedy by Tony Award®-winning James Kirkwood
(author of A Chorus Line) - centers on two
somewhat desperate and waning movie stars: Joan Collins
plays Sylvia Glenn, an acerbic film star, reputedly
modeled on Joan Crawford; Linda Evans is the
seemingly sweet Leatrice Monsee.
Both actresses are courted by an unscrupulous
producer to co-star in his Broadway show, despite
the fact that they have hated each other for decades.
He convinces both ladies to go along by misleading
each of them into believing that she will be starring
in the show with Paul Newman.
This hilarious set-up
provides the background for the full-blown comic confrontation
between these two stage divas and the surprising and
riotous resolution, played to the hilt by the two
stars who the world knows as "rivals to the death"
from the hit television series Dynasty.
This riotous comedy
about big stars, big egos and big hair
will play the National en route to its Great White
Way opening.
In the
1980s, soap stars Joan Collins and Linda Evans sent
ratings soaring as Dynasty's glamorous enemies, Alexis
and Krystle. Now they are reuniting as formidable
divas in "Legends".
LEGENDS! is directed by John Bowab. He is
joined by an illustrious design team, including Phil
Monat (Lighting), Jesse Poleshuck (Set), with Costumes
by Nolan Miller, whose Emmy Award-winning work on
Dynasty captivated not only America but also the world.
LEGENDS! is
produced by Ben Sprecher, whose recent Broadway credits
include The Odd Couple, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew
Broderick.
Collins
made her Broadway debut - and her National Theatre
debut - in the revival of Noel Coward's PRIVATE
LIVES. LEGENDS!
will mark Evans' Broadway debut.
