FOSSE
stars the choreography of Bob Fosse, as directed and co-choreographed/co-conceived
by Tony Award-winner Ann Reinking (Chicago) and recreated by Chet Walker. The
production is directed by Tony Award-winner Richard Maltby, Jr. (Ain't Misbehavin')
and co-directed by Ann Reinking. The incomparable Gwen Verdon, Fosse's wife
and the legendary Broadway star, is artistic advisor to the production.
FOSSE is a journey in song and dance through the extraordinary career of showman Bob Fosse. Starring 32 of Broadway's hottest and most talented dancers, Fosse includes rarely seen dance and musical numbers from the choreographer's earliest works, and many numbers that have never before been seen on stage. The production also showcases classic Fosse dance numbers like "Steam Heat," "Big Spender," "Bye Bye Blackbird," "Dancin' Man," and "Sing, Sing, Sing."
In
1973 Bob Fosse became the first director in history to win the Oscar, Tony and
Emmy awards in a single year for the film version of Cabaret, the Broadway musical
Pippin, and the television special "Liza with a Z." His work on Broadway, for
which he won nine Tony Awards, includes The Pajama Game, Redhead, Little Me,
Sweet Charity, Chicago, Dancin' , Damn Yankees, New Girl in Town, and How to
Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. His film work includes Sweet Charity,
Lenny, All That Jazz, and Star 80, and the choreography for My Sister Eileen,
The Little Prince, Pajama Game, and Damn Yankees.
